A Four-Session Masterclass with Colin Griffith

 

The practice of homeopathy begins with principles, materia medica, repertory, and method. Yet the deeper craft of prescribing develops through something that cannot be acquired from textbooks alone: sustained clinical experience, careful observation, and the ability to recognise what the patient is truly asking for.

​

In this second instalment of The Architecture of Healing, Colin Griffith explores the relationship between practical knowledge and intuitive perception. Drawing on more than three decades of clinical practice, he will examine how prescribing methods have evolved, how a prescription can be framed around the patient’s individual journey, and why difficult cases may require a different path.

​

Across four live sessions, participants will explore historical and contemporary prescribing methods, remedy sequencing, miasmatic thinking, triad remedies, and the wider forms of support that may be needed in complex cases.

This Masterclass is an invitation to examine those foundations against the living complexity of clinical practice, and to develop a more flexible, perceptive, and patient-centred approach to healing.

Session Overview

Session 1: Prescribing Methods Through the Ages - Tradition, Evolution and the Place of Intuition

​

From Hahnemann onwards, homeopaths have developed many different methods of prescribing. At times, these approaches appear to contradict established teachings, only for another respected text or practitioner to present an entirely different understanding of how homeopathy should be practised.

This opening session examines the evolution of prescribing methods and asks how homeopathic practice has changed across generations.

 

Colin will explore:

• The development of prescribing methods since Hahnemann

• Why respected homeopaths have often reached different conclusions

• The relationship between established principles and clinical experience

• What can be learned from apparent contradictions within homeopathic literature

• How practitioners develop a personal prescribing method

• The role of intuition alongside knowledge, observation, and experience

• How prescribing may continue to evolve within the Age of Aquarius

 

Rather than presenting one definitive method, this session encourages participants to recognise the thinking behind different approaches and to consider how intuition can be used responsibly within clinical practice.

 

Session 2: Framing the Prescription - The Patient’s Journey, Remedy Sequence and Miasmatic Direction

A prescription cannot be framed until there is a picture. Yet our understanding of a homeopathic picture is usually shaped by our existing knowledge of remedies.

​

What happens when we reverse this process and begin not with the remedy, but with the patient?

In this session, Colin explores how the prescription may be understood within the wider context of the patient’s life, development, and karmic journey.

 

Topics will include:

• Beginning with the patient rather than a preconceived remedy picture

• Understanding where the patient may be within their individual journey

• Whether the similimum is always found where we have been taught to look

• The importance of considering where a prescription may take the patient next

• Prescribing as a sequence rather than an isolated intervention

• When an indicated remedy may require additional support

• Why a remedy may be correct but insufficient on its own

• The role of miasmatic remedies within a developing prescription journey

• How to recognise direction and movement within a case

 

This session invites practitioners to view each prescription as part of a larger process rather than as a single, self-contained event.

 

Session 3: Triad Remedies - Expanding the Boundaries of Homeopathic Prescribing

Homeopaths are traditionally taught that the similimum is a single remedy administered in an appropriate potency. Yet decades of clinical practice have raised questions about whether this model is sufficient for every patient and every case.

This session examines the philosophy, construction, and practical use of triad remedies.

 

Colin will explore:

• Why complex modern cases may require an expanded prescribing framework

• The clinical observations that led to the development of triad prescribing

• The ethos behind combining three remedies

• How remedies are selected to work together

• The relationship between the remedies within a triad

• How triads may fit into everyday homeopathic practice

• The types of cases that may call for this less conventional approach

• Whether nosodes and miasmatic remedies have a place within triad prescriptions

• How to assess the patient’s response to a triad

• The difference between coherent remedy support and indiscriminate combination prescribing

 

Through clinical reasoning and practical examples, participants will gain a clearer understanding of when triad remedies may be considered and how they can be formed with purpose and integrity.

 

Session 4: Difficult Cases - Impediments to Healing, Remedy Weaving and Wider Clinical Support

The final session brings together the themes explored throughout the masterclass and applies them to difficult and apparently resistant cases.

​

Colin will examine how complex cases may begin to resolve when practitioners look beyond the obvious symptom picture and investigate the less visible factors maintaining illness.

 

Topics will include:

• Approaching cases that do not respond as expected

• Revisiting case-taking when progress has stalled

• Recognising overlooked threads of inquiry

• Identifying possible impediments to healing

• Understanding why an indicated remedy may fail to produce lasting movement

• “Weaving remedies” together to support a complex patient

• Creating a coherent sequence of prescriptions

• Supporting patients without losing sight of the central direction of the case

• Knowing when to look beyond the currently indicated remedy

 

The session will also examine the wider resources available to practitioners, including:

• Nosodes

• Miasmatic remedies

• Tissue salts

• Mother tinctures

• Flower essences

• Chakra support

• Cranial osteopathy

• Acupuncture

• Other complementary forms of therapeutic support

 

Rather than using these approaches indiscriminately, Colin will consider how they may be integrated thoughtfully when a patient requires more support than a single prescription can provide.
